BTW Jimbo, Fabsil is about 5 times more expensive than Thompson's Water Seal. TWS does the job just as well, and is no longer smelly. :good:

I've brought an old scout tent, it's not ww2 but its canvas and I'll get quite a bit of use out of it at other camping events I've got coming up this year so happy to go with it for now untill I can afford a bell tent. It's quite a pale green, does anyone know of a suitable paint to use on canvas to get it to a more olive drab colour? I am intending to give it a coat of Fabsil before the game but thought I'd ask about an appropriate paint first.

For Land Rover and other vehicle canvas tilts there are treatments that are coloured. Have a look around Milweb or similar

Sorry, hadn't found reference at all - though I know that could just be my stupidity - are we allowed comping fires for cooking/sitting around? Or is that a no no.

“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

I didn't get time to waterproof my canvas tent and with the Friday forecast looking soggy I'm breaking out the plastic fantastic, just hope my pegs will hold it all down!

If it's a British pup/2-man tent, then the canvas itself should be waterproof enough - unless you touch it on the inside.

It's not, but therin lays a quandry, just how do you manage to be inside a pup tent and not touch the inside? You must be a lot smaller than me or just a lot more bendy than I am :)

Aaaah but Jimbo is twice the man of any of us. Just a thought if it does get too soggy for anyone, I have a spare two man placcy tent in the van that can be used. It's black, so not too eye watering.

well we are fitting 4 of us, in two pup tents... less to carry means we can all fit in one car for the journey.

We have done it before, it's fine - plus I am talking of US pup tents.

Sounds awful to me. I have a small modern 2 man tent you can borrow if you like.
